CAHOOTS is an eight-week correspondence program designed to help students in grades K-5 maintain their math and language arts levels during the summer months. Students complete weekly lessons at home and can check answers online. After completing each lesson, your child sends an assignment reflection to a ‘CAHOOTS Buddy’ who will send a written response back to your child. Students who successfully complete the program receive a certificate at the end of summer.
A packet containing a workbook (including eight assignment reflections) and instructions will be sent home with participating students by the last week of school.
It is recommended students work on the grade level they will be entering in the fall (i.e. 1st grade is a review of kindergarten), to review and reinforce skills learned during the school year. Please discuss with your child’s teacher, if you feel another level may be more appropriate.
The enrollment fee is $43 (for math and language arts). This is a significant savings from previous years! The cost includes all materials and the response service through Community Education.
CAHOOTS should not be considered a replacement for participating in summer school if your child qualifies. CAHOOTS is not intended to replace regular reading for enjoyment or math activities that strengthen your child’s fluency and love for math.
