Parent Education Conference
Description: District 196 Community Education is hosting a District-wide Parenting Conference. Mark your calendars to take part in this FREE half-day conference to learn more about parenting from local experts and District 196 teachers and staff. Representatives from area organizations will be at the resource fair as well. Keynote speaker, Dr. William Doherty, will discuss Too Fast with Too Much: How to be a Grounded Parent in a Crazy World 8:30-9:45am. Then, choose two breakout workshops from more than 25 on specific topics including:

  • The Parenting Rollercoaster
  • Rules and Consequences
  • From Gangster to Graduate: Turning Things Around
  • How to Tighten Your Belt and Still Breathe Financially
  • Local Trends in Adolescent Risk Taking Behaviors

  • Sibling Relationships
  • Keep on Reading and Writing
  • Healthy Body Image for Girls
  • Autism
  • Parenting Teens: What Works?
  • And more! All parents of children from birth to 18 years of age will benefit from the information provided at the conference. Join us and obtain relevant parent information to help your children reach their full potential. Childcare for children ages two and older is available at $10/family. Pre-registration is required for childcare. Please note the names and ages of the children in the "Special Needs/Allergies" section.
